In recent weeks, there has been growing excitement for the next generation iPhone model. Of course, the current iPhone 5 model has been on the market since September, so many people are expecting a summer announcement and Q3 launch of the next instalment of Apple’s iconic smartphone series.
Over the last few months, a number of sources have reported that the iPhone 5S model will be announced in the summer, but more recently revealed information has suggested that the new handset may be delayed, resulting in the phone hitting the market later in the year. Of course, Apple’s previous ‘S’ models have utilised the same form factor, size and design as their preceding models, but GSM Arena has recently reported that the iPhone 5S may utilise a larger display than that of the iPhone 5. It was previously expected that the iPhone 5S will sport a similar 4 inch display to the iPhone 5, but the website has reported that Apple may opt for a 4.3 inch display for the new model. As a result, the website reports that this may lead to production being postponed, and the handset hitting the market towards the end of the year.
It is not known if this will definitely be the case, or if it is just another rumour. Unfortunately, no news was revealed regarding changes in the screen’s resolution. The device is also expected to sport an improved camera and processor, and of course the recently announced iOS 7 software update. Other rumoured features for the handset include a biometric fingerprint scanner and LTE-Advanced connectivity, and the addition of several new colour options joining the standard black and white variants.
